Justice Chandrachud said decriminalising gay sex is only the first step to bury the Colonial Ghost, adding that time has come to move forward and give the LGBT community the other constitutional rights.
SC says Section 377 of the IPC was a weapon to harass members of the LGBT community, resulting in discrimination.
Supreme Court says other aspects of Section 377 dealing with unnatural sex with animals and children will remain in force.
Any kind of sexual activity with animals shall remain penal offence under Section 377 of the IPC, says SC.
Earlier, reading out the verdict, Justice R F Nariman said homosexuality is not a mental disorder, which has been also recognised by Parliament. Centre must give wide periodic publicity to the SC judgment to eliminate stigma attached to LGBT community.
Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code is a section of the Indian Penal Code introduced in 1861 during the British rule of India. Modelled on the Buggery Act of 1533, it criminalises sexual activities "against the order of nature", including homosexual sex.[1][2]
The section was struck down as unconstitutional with respect to sex between consenting adults by the Delhi High Court in July 2009.[3][4][5] That judgement was overturned by the Supreme Court of India (SC) on 11 December 2013 with the Court holding that amending or repealing section 377 should be a matter left to Parliament, not the judiciary.[6][7] On 6 February 2016, the final hearing of the curative petition submitted by the Naz Foundation and others came for hearing in the SC. The three-member bench headed by the then Chief Justice of India T. S. Thakur said that all the 8 curative petitions submitted will be reviewed afresh by a five-member constitutional bench.[8]
On 24 August 2017 in a landmark judgment (also known as the Puttuswamy judgement), the SC had upheld the Right to Privacy as a fundamental right under the Constitution. The SC also had called for equality and condemned discrimination, stated that the protection of sexual orientation lies at the core of the fundamental rights and that the rights of the LGBT population are real and founded on constitutional doctrine.[9] The Puttuswamy judgement is believed to have implications for section 377 as consensual sexual acts in private can no longer be overseen by law.[10][11][12]
In January 2018, a three-member SC bench heard a petition filed by five people asking the SC to revisit the Naz Foundation judgment. The case was referred to a larger bench and help was sought from the Union government.[13] On 10 July 2018, a five-member constitutional bench of the SC commenced hearing of the pleas challenging the constitutionality of section 377.[14][15] On 6 September 2018, the Supreme Court ruled unanimously that Section 377 was unconstitutional "in so far as it criminalises consensual sexual conduct between adults of the same sex"

अभ्यर्थी कमीशन की ऑफिशियल वेबसाइट पर जाकर 20 अगस्त तक ऑनलाइन आवेदन कर सकते है और रजिस्ट्रेशन की फीस 24 अगस्त तक जमा करा सकते है।

The Government has proposed a Common Eligibility Test (CET) for SSC, Banking, Railway Exams etc. to Rajya Sabha on 14th March 2018. This Common Eligibility Test (CET) is proposed to shortlist candidates for vacancies of Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted) and below level posts in the government jobs. This proposal is mentioned in order to bring transparency in the recruitment process. Most recently, the SSC had to recommend for a CBI enquiry into allegations pertaining to the conduct of CGL (Tier-II) Examination 2017. Such cancellation of exams is a complete waste of efforts and resources of both the aspirants and the Government and also dims the image of the Commission in the eyes of general public. Aspirants lose their precious time and effort that they have put in preparing for those exams. Go through the essential pointers of the Rajya Sabha Report no. 95 on Common Eligibility Test (CET):
1. Through this CET, the whole system would be revamped in two stages, i.e.
Tier-I i.e. a Common Eligibility Screening Test (Preliminary Test): Common Eligibility for all recruiting agencies i.e SSC, Railways, Banking, etc
Tier-II i.e. the main examinations to be conducted independently by the concerned recruiting agencies.
2. CET would be conducted at three levels:
Matriculation level
Higher Secondary (10+2) level
Graduation Level
3. For this CET, candidates have to register themselves on National Career Services (NCS) portal which will generate a unique user ID for each candidate.
4. The government has estimated the registration of around 5 crores candidates for all of the above CET levels.
5. The government proposed to conduct CET of only those exams which are conducted in only 2 languages i.e English & Hindi. This is why, in February 2019, CET of only graduation level will be conducted. Other CET level exams will be conducted when commission acquires the necessary capability to conduct exam in the 8th schedule languages.
6. The government has also proposed two years' validity of CET scores. This CET score will help candidates to appear for Tier II examinations which would be conducted independently by the respective recruiting agencies like SSC, Banking, Railways etc.
7. There may be a scope that the CET score can be used by State Government/ PSUs/ Private sectors for the recruitment of manpower.
8. This CET will be conducted by SSC and SSC's stature should be given autonomy at par with the UPSC (recommended by the committee under the chairmanship of Shri I.M.G Khan).
9. Please note that this proposal is for the year 2019. SSC 2018 exams are likely to be held as per the calendar issued by the commission.
The Committee feels that a
recruitment body of SSC’s stature should be given autonomy at par with the UPSC and
thus, recommends that Commission be given statutory status without any further delay.
Under new initiatives, the Commission has informed that in line with the
announcement made by the Hon’ble Finance Minister in his Budget Speech (2016-17),
Government of India has proposed to introduce a Common Eligibility Test (CET) to shortlist
candidates for vacancies of Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted) and below level posts in the
Government of India. Through this exercise, the entire recruitment system would be
revamped and rationalized in two distinct stages, i.e. (i) Tier-I - a Common Screening Test
subsuming the preliminary Tier-I examinations conducted by all recruiting agencies of the
Government of India, viz. SSC, Railways, Banking, etc; and (ii) Tier-II – the main
Examinations to be conducted independently by the concerned recruiting agencies.
3.18. To kick start the process under the revised dispensation, candidates would
mandatorily have to register themselves on a dedicated portal developed by the National
Career Services (NCS) of the Ministry of Labour & Employment, which would generate a
unique ID for each candidate. CETs would be conducted at three levels: (i) Matriculation
Level; (ii) Higher Secondary (10+2) Level; and (iii) Graduation Level. About 5 crore
candidates are estimated to register for all the three levels of CETs making it the largest
examination in the world.

Marks scored by candidates in Tier-I and Tier-II examinations, if conducted in
multiple shifts, will be normalized and such normalized scores will be treated as final
and will be used for qualifying the candidates to next stage of examination and to
determine final merit.

The official notification for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2018 examination has been released by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on the official website.
Interested and eligible candidates can now apply for SSC CGL 2018 examination through the official website: ssc.nic.in
Every year, the commission conducts the CGL examination to fill various posts across the country. The SSC is mandated to make recruitment to Group 'B' (Non-Gazetted) posts and Group 'C' of (non-technical) posts under Government of India and their attached and subordinate offices.
The students have to appear in all the four phases of the examination (Tier- 1 to 4) to get a job in the commission.
The SSC CGL online applications will be accepted at www.ssconline.nic.in.
