Why High Sex Ratio in Kerala ???


well there may be various reasons which can be classified into follwing Broad Reasons :- 

1. Matriarchal Society :-  Only kerala and some parts of Northeast india ( Meghalaya ) have matriarchal form of society ( means dominance of female in family affairs  OR female head of a community or family ) .

2. High Literacy Rate in kerala :- People are well educated and they know the importance of male-female  balance in the society .

3. High Outmigration of Men in Gulf and Other countries for employment purposes which results in lowering number of men in kerala .

4. christian missionaries 


OTHER FACTS :- 

Women continue to outnumber men in Kerala with sex ratio increasing to 1,084 in 2011 from 1,058 in 2001, according to census figures. 

Kerala has a total population of 3,33,87,677 with 1,60,21,290 men and 1,73,66,387 women whereas in 2001 the total head count was 3,18,41,374 with 1,54,68,614 men and 1,63,72,760 females. 

There are 1,084 women for every 1,000 men, the provisional data of Census-2011 concerning Kerala, released by state Census Directorate, showed. 

Though the state's total population increased, the growth rate of population is just 4.86 %, which is much lower compared to many other states. 

While northern district Kannur has the highest female sex ratio of 1,133, district Idukki has registered lowest figures with 1,006. 

The sex ratio in capital Thiruvananthapuram is 1,088 and that of the commercial hub Kochi 1,028. 

However, sex ratio among children in the age group 0-6 dipped slightly to 959 in the last ten years from 960 in 2001. 

There are only 959 female children per 1,000 male children, the provisional data states. 

In Kerala, 93.91 % of the population is literate which showed a growth of 3.05 % from 2001.
