The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) organises examination in order to fill myriad vacancies for Indian Railways every year. The Indian Railways, few days back, released a notification about the RRB Group D jobs to fill 91,307 vacancies. Under RRB Group D, railway ministry will hire candidates eligible for trackman, helpers and gateman, among others across all regions. Here’s a brief about the same:
Posts offered under RRC Group D 2018
Indian Railways is hiring for the posts of gangman, switchman, trackman, cabin man, lever man, points man, helper-II (Elect), keyman, welder, fitter and porter. Candidates will be selected on the basis of written examination and then they’ll have to go through physical test.
Apply online for RRB Group D
The online application is made available from February 10 to fill the post in Level 1 of 7 CPC Pay Matrix. The last date to fill the application is March 12, 2018.

Exam Pattern
The RRB Group D exam is divided into two categories, first being CBT (Computer Based Test) and the other PET (Passing Physical Efficiency Test).
The computer based exam is of 100 marks and question are asked from Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science and General Awareness on Current Affairs.
Then comes PET, criteria of selection for which differ from Male to Female. Male candidates need to lift 35 kg of weight and carry it for 100 metres in 2 minutes and they must also run for a distance of 1000 metres in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one go while for a female candidate, the weight is 20 kg for the same time and distance. Also, the female candidates need to run for 1000 metres in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one go.
